The Automated Communications Engineering Software (ACES) / Joint Automated CEOI System (JACS) is a fully automated software tool that provides the S-6 section with the ability to perform cryptonet planning, management, generation and distribution;  key management and key tag generation; spectrum and SOI management which include frequency resource management and generation of EP fill and SOI data; thus, allowing the S-6 team the ability to tailor and match the unique requirements of specific battlefield COMSEC systems.ACES/JACS is really the same application, except it is given a different name depending on where it is fielded to. Army uses ‘ACES’, while the Joint community uses ‘JACS’.

The ACES/JACS software was built to leverage existing capabilities and requirements. Primary capabilities include:

• Mission/Network Planning for multiple NETS such as Single Channel, SINCGARS, ARC-220, Spider, and SATCOM
• Signal Operating Instruction (SOI) Generation and Distribution
• Includes frequency assignments to networks, call signs, call words, signs/counter signs, smoke/pyro, suffix/expanders, and SOI packets.
• JACS is the Joint Standard for SOI Generation & Distribution
• Cryptonet Planning
• Load Group./Platform/Equipment/ Key Planning and Distribution
• Black Key Import and Distribution
• Type 3 Key Generation and Distribution

Part of EKMS (existing LMD/KP interface, SKL loading, Tier-3 key generation)

Existing Spectrum XXI interface for frequency requests and assignment
Existing SINCGARS planning and LOADSET generation
Existing HF planning
Existing SOI and JCEOI generation (Callsigns)
Integrated into WIN-T Inc 1 & 2
Existing Import/Export/Merge mechanisms

ACES/JACS is designed to be modular. Each module is responsible for a particular function.

At minimum, to support JTRS HMS radios, two modules are required:

-GP (General Purpose) Module, which is used for importing keys and key tags (manually or electronically)
-JTRS (Joint Tactical Radio System) Module, which contains SRW planning and HMS Radio planning.

Additional modules allow for importing of the existing ACES/JACS functionality:

-RM (Resource Manager) Module, for generation and assignment of Frequencies (for example, when interfacing with Spectrum XXI)
-MNL (Master Net List) Module, for generation of SINCGARS LOADSETs. When SINCGARS loadsets exist and are created, they can easily be imported into JTRS Module for assignment and generation of SINCGARS Presets on the HMS Manpack
-SATCOM Module
