Maybe you have heard the news or people around you are all abuzz about something. It's true, the latest in tactical modems is coming your way.....UltraLink is being fielded as an alternative to the TacLink 3300/3300+.

The UltraLink tactical modem is a dual function device, operating with an AFATDS workstation as well as a PF-D device. The first UltraLink devices have been available to Fire Supporters using the Precision Fires - Dismounted kit. Only recently have UltraLinks been authorized for use with AFATDS, and as such have begun being fielded as a replacement for the TacLink 3300/3300+ USB TacLink. This document serves as an explanation of the procedures that units should follow upon receipt of the new UltraLink tactical modem.

Units receiving the UltraLink tactical modem are being asked to visit the following CAC-enabled website: https://lwn.army.mil/downloads?p_p_id=20&p_p_lifecycle=0&p_p_state=normal&p_p_mode=view&p_p_col_id=column-1&p_p_col_count=1&_20_entryStart=0&_20_folderStart=0&_20_entryEnd=50&_20_folderEnd=20&_20_struts_action=%2Fdocument_library%2Fview&_20_folderId=8648776

PdM FSC2 has compiled an UltraLink Support folder that contains several files that will be important for the proper configuration, operation and troubleshooting of the UltraLink device.

This downloadable package has been assembled and is being made available for units receiving UltraLinks for the first time. Operators should navigate to the compressed (.zip) file labeled UltraLink Support AFATDS SW Version 6.8.1.1 P2.zip. A link to that file has been provided below.

Operators should download the file to the desktop on the AFATDS workstation. Once saved to the AFATDS desktop, the operator should right click on the file and select Extract All.

When prompted to select a destination, ensure that the destination address has populated with the AFATDS desktop. Select Extract.

A file explorer window will open displaying the contents of the extracted folder.

At this point the operator will find the version specific installation guide (i.e UltraLink Installation Guide 6811 P2.txt) that contains the remaining instructions for installing and configuring the UltraLink for use with AFATDS.
